Tony's Greek Island, Friday afternoon [NFB for distance]

Tony had flown Steve, Patriot and himself to their Greek island as an apology for forgetting to emerge from the lab for the first part of the break between classes. (The Greek island had been a gift for something else. Steve tried not to think about it too hard. Sometimes he had to let Tony be Tony.)

The weather was hard to complain about: 80 with bright sun and a light breeze, perfect for laying out next to the pool wearing nothing but a smile (after going for a long, clothed, hike and having a big lunch because Steve had to be Steve, too). Sunscreen had been applied because even the super serum couldn't completely counter the Irishness, and Steve had a book about World War II that was getting enough wrong to keep him entertained.

Mmm, vacation. He tilted his head towards the door Tony had disappeared through a few minutes earlier. "How are the margaritas doing?" he called out.

The chair legs sank into the sides of the hovering ship, knocking one or two of the AIM agents into the water with a very cinematic Wilhelm scream for good measure.

"I get to add defenses to this place, right?" Tony called.

"You get to add defenses," Steve agreed as Patriot jumped out of his own pool to bark ferociously (for a corgi) at the interlopers.

Which meant the confused agents paused before taking aim at a poor, innocent dog. Who did not deserve any of this.

Really, they deserved the table that flattened them for even attempting that.

And then the lounge chairs.

"How you doing there, sweetheart?" Tony asked, ducking under panicked gunfire as Steve did some work.

Almost there. It wasn't perfect, but it'd do the job.

"Running out of projectiles," Steve said, pulling the giant patio umbrella out of its stand. "You?"

"Got something for you to throw," Tony said, offering up a mishmash of pool parts. "Quickly. It's a bit... volatile."

He used what he had!

"There will be follow-up questions," Steve warned, throwing the...he was assuming bomb...into the air.

Look, you married a man who made weapons for a very long time before becoming Iron Man. These things just happened. The bomb rocked the aircraft to the side, a very large chunk of it missing and the rest burning as it started to crash into the ocean.

"Oh, it worked better than expected."

"Very efficient," Steve agreed, watching it fall.

"So, this is where we get out of here before they recover," Tony suggested.

"Can I put on pants first?" Steve asked.

[imafuturist]

"Well..." Tony. "Yes, of course."

[heroic_jawline]

"Thank you," Steve said with dignity. "What do you think they wanted?"

"Tech. To kill me. To kidnap me. Oh, maybe part of some convoluted team up with the Red Skull?" Tony, none of those were good.

"Maybe they wanted to kidnap Patty because they were jealous of his pool," Steve said.

Tony's expression changed to one of anger at that. "Oh, they better not touch my dog."

"We'll bring his armor next time too," Steve promised, which was a very normal thing to say.

"Damn right we will," Tony said as another explosion boomed. "Sounds like the damage hit their power core."

[heroic_jawline]

"What did you do, exactly?" Steve asked, going over to check on Patriot.

[imafuturist]

"Oh, it was just an improvised bomb. I can do better with when I have more to work with."

Man, the people who captured him back in Afghanistan were really risking their lives.

"That's not cart blanche to stock up on explosives," Steve warned.

Tony snorted. "Oh, sweetheart. I don't need to stock up. I can make almost anything into a bomb if I really try."

[heroic_jawline]

"I probably shouldn't find that as attractive as I do," Steve said.

Tony laughed and leaned in for a kiss. "Pants. And then I'll... contact SHIELD."
