Steve had reached out to Natasha (through several layers of encryption and burner phones because Natasha, at least, understood how to lay low) and was now in his very best incognito outfit (beard, jeans, baseball cap, sunglasses) with Tony (in generally the same outfit), trying to appear casual as they walked around one of those giant outdoor outlet malls waiting for Natasha to make contact.

"She said she'd drop a pin with where she is in--" Steve glanced at his watch, "--eight and a half minutes. You've got the test with you?"

He'd asked that about four times already, but he was anxious.

Steve slid his hands up along Tony's spine. "I suppose I'm not that hungry."

"Oh, you're hungry," Tony replied. "Just... a different kind."

Steve chuckled, still blushing. "Thinking of it as confirming who we are."

"I'm not opposed to that at all," he murmured, leaning in for a kiss.

"I thought you might," Steve said, kissing along Tony's throat.

"I want you to do what you need," Tony sighed. "Show me..."

Steve nuzzled in under Tony's ear. "Do they get the person they replace exactly right?" he asked. "Like this freckle right here?"

"I--I don't know," Tony said softly. "They avoided romantic entanglements."

Possibly because it was a bridge too far to maintain a cover.

Steve bit down on the freckle. "So I should really know all of the parts that make you sprecial."

Tony couldn't help but grin at that, glancing down in a way that would be shy in anyone else. "Pretty sure all the parts that make me special come from you, sweetheart."

Steve kissed him softly. "That's not true."

"Pretty sure it is," he teased.

"Nope," Steve said, biting down. "You were special to start with."

Tony hummed, running his fingers through Steve's hair. "You're too sweet."

"You need sweet," Steve said, sliding his fingers along Tony's skin.

"That's true," Tony replied. He tilted Steve's head up to look at him fondly for a moment before leaning into another kiss.

Steve was happy to have this go slow and sweet. "I'm still here," he murmured.

"You are," Tony sighed. "You are."

Which was what he needed to know.

Steve sighed softly. "You can prove it to yourself," he said.

"Not too weird for you?" Tony asked, only half teasing.

"I need it too," Steve admitted.

Tony kissed him again for that, keeping it soft and sweet for the moment.

"I love you," Steve murmured, sliding his fingers through Tony's hair, re-memorizing the feel of it through his hand.

"Love you too," Tony replied, showing no sign of pulling away at the moment.

Steve yanked Tony's shirt off and devoted himself to kissing the newly bare skin, learning every part of it.
