The Amazingly Awesome and Completely Necessary Ballroom, Stark Tower...let, Friday evening

It was mid-September, so that meant it was wholesome activities time, at least according to the targeted ads Steve was seeing, and so he decided that the best idea for the afternoon was to take Tony apple picking in Maryland.

A slightly competitive few hours later and he was bringing a truly ridiculous number of bushels of apples into the ballroom. "Do you need help with yours?" Steve asked, grinning over his shoulder at Tony.

"I'm good!" Oh no, someone sounded strained as they dragged in the bushels (they were bushels, right?) of apples.

"Is DUM-E helping you?" Steve asked.

He paused. "And he doesn't have rocket boots, right?"

"They're in beta!" Oh no. Ohhhh no.

Steve sighed as he put down the apples. "Really?!"

"It's just as a last resort thing," Tony insisted like that helped.

"Sweetheart," Steve said, closing his eyes. "He's going to get in a fight with Beaker or something and there will be burned felt everywhere."

"Or he's going to prevent burned felt," Tony suggested.

[heroic_jawline]

"Maybe," Steve said, sounding unconvinced.

"He's doing his best," Tony said like it made any difference at all.

"I didn't say he wasn't," Steve said with a smile. "He just doesn't need to fly."

"Just a limited amount of flight?" As a treat.

[heroic_jawline]

"What's limited?" Steve asked.

If he had to call Carol and explain about a robot breaking atmosphere, Tony...

That hardly seemed likely!

"Nothing that can break atmosphere?"

"That still seems high," Steve said.

"...a light hover?"

He could tweak things.

"A light hover could be okay," Steve said. "A slow hover."

"Twenty miles per hour?" Tony suggested.

[heroic_jawline]

"Okay," Steve said, "and then we'll see."

"It'll be great," Tony promised Jim with a quick, enthusiastic kiss.

"Well, maybe he can be helpful and bring up the last few apple bushels."

Because they had a truly stupid number of apples.

"Well, they're food and I'd rather not waste it," Steve said predictably.

"So, let's just... not have the robots help." Since they had their idiosyncrasies.

Steve nodded. "That's probably a good idea. I'll go grab the rest of them."
