The Amazingly Awesome and Completely Necessary Ballroom, Stark Tower...let, Friday evening

It was mid-September, so that meant it was wholesome activities time, at least according to the targeted ads Steve was seeing, and so he decided that the best idea for the afternoon was to take Tony apple picking in Maryland.

A slightly competitive few hours later and he was bringing a truly ridiculous number of bushels of apples into the ballroom. "Do you need help with yours?" Steve asked, grinning over his shoulder at Tony.

"The many, many apples?" They were going to donate so much of them.

"We got slightly carried away," Steve laughed.

"Well, at least some people will eat them."

Mostly Steve.

"A lot of people," Steve said. "I can take some to the vets, too, when I go."

"And make the doctor joke as you do?" Tony suggested.

"Every time," Steve said. "They'll pity laugh for me."

"It's adorable," he insisted. Like a good husband. And not one leading Steve down the path of bad dad jokes.

"Thank you," Steve said, grinning and kissing him quickly.

"You're very welcome," Tony replied cheerfully. "Now, I think I was promised some kind of boozy apple cider drink for braving the outdoors with you."

Was he? Or was that just what Tony told himself?

"Were you?" Steve asked, laughing. "I don't remember that."

"Oh, definitely." Now he was just pushing it.

Steve laughed again. "Well, I like to give you what you want."

"Thank you, darling," Tony replied with a grin.

Steve squeezed Tony's fingers and pulled him out of the ballroom. "Let's find cider."

Did they have a cider room?

No, no, no. But a wine room was normal to have, right?

"And whiskey."

"And whiskey," Steve said. "Lead the way."

"We can make soup to really make it feel like fall!" Oh, yeah. They could make soup.

"Can apples go into soup?" Steve wondered.

Please don't make soup.

"I think so?" Guys, please no.

"Well, let's get some and see what else we have. Making soup can't be hard. We're smart guys."

"We could try!" And set the kitchen on fire. Or just give up and order out.

"It can't hurt to try!" Steve said. "I've taken Summer's classes."

Where apple probably went in soup and definitely shouldn't have.

"I'm sure we've got plenty of ingredients to go with the apples too."

Like frozen vegetables?

"I'm sure we do," Steve said. "Apples go with almost everything, right?"

"Like cinnamon!"
