Steve came in--panting slightly--with the last of the grocery run. There had been a note on the calendar that helpfully told him that he and Tony were apparently hosting a cookout tonight (!) and between them, they had zero cooking skills.

...this would not change as they got older, no, but it came as more of a shock now. "Okay," he said. "I got hot dogs and buns and every kind of potato chip they had. That should be enough, right?"

"Have you ever tried it?" Steve asked.

Probably not because Tony was not 80.

"It's celery." That'd be a no.

"It's delicious!"

That was debatable.

Yeah, he agreed with the narrative.

"I like it," Steve said, nodding.

He also like boiled veggies, so.

"I'll try it." Out of the kindness of his heart. "But no promises on finishing it."

Steve absolutely beamed at him. "Thank you."

That smile just made Tony flush pink and focus on getting the grill started. It was just awful.

Steve stood up. "Need anything else from downstairs?" he asked.

He'd bring up everything in one trip like an idiot, Tony, just watch him.

"I think we've got it all." They did not, but they didn't know that. "Don't fall."

"I'm not made of glass, fussy!" Steve called over his shoulder and he went down for two bottles of celery soda (he'd found bottles, yes) and one of regular Coke because he knew that celery soda wasn't to everyone's taste.

Those weirdos who didn't love it.

It was because he cares about Tony's ability to taste things, clearly.

Tony rolled his eyes and kissed him once for fussing.

Steve kissed him back, smiling. "Starting to think you're fussing so you can kiss me more."

"Does combine two things I wanna do," Tony replied with a wink.

"I knew it," Steve said, giving him another kiss and feeling incredibly daring about it.

Whoa there, Steve! You rebel, you.

Tony took the gross soda while kissing him back, staying close either to avoid drinking the thing or to keep kissing him.

Steve was going to let him get away with his nefarious plot because kisses, that's what.

At least the party wpuld keep them from just doing this all weekend long, right? There was that.

"Celery's still gross," Tony muttered into the kiss.

Steve bit Tony's lip playfully. "Celery doesn't even taste like anything."

Tony grinned, glancing down at Steve's mouth. "You're so full of shit," he said, resting his arms over Steve's shoulders, hands cross behind his neck to pull him back so Tony could sit down.

Steve ended up in Tony's lap, looking a little bashful. "Language," he said softly.

"Sorry," Tony replied, not at all looking sorry.

"You seem real sorry," Steve said wryly.

Tony shrugged, continuing to look utterly unrepentant. Then glanced up at him through his eyelashes. "This okay?"

"If I'm not crushing your leg or something--" Steve checked a little nervously.
