Steve came in--panting slightly--with the last of the grocery run. There had been a note on the calendar that helpfully told him that he and Tony were apparently hosting a cookout tonight (!) and between them, they had zero cooking skills.

...this would not change as they got older, no, but it came as more of a shock now. "Okay," he said. "I got hot dogs and buns and every kind of potato chip they had. That should be enough, right?"

Tony shrugged, continuing to look utterly unrepentant. Then glanced up at him through his eyelashes. "This okay?"

"If I'm not crushing your leg or something--" Steve checked a little nervously.

"No!" Tony said, perking up as he shook his head. "Not at all."

Steve smiled at him, adjusting slightly so he wasn't perched quite as precariously. "Then I'll stay."

"Good," Tony replied, struggling for a moment to figure out what to do with his hands. "Good."

"Well, until it's time to cook, anyway," Steve said. "This seems like a dangerous way to make hot dogs."

"Can't even reach the grill," Tony added, settling his hands on Steve's waist.

"You seem real torn about that," Steve said, laughing.

Which just forced Tony to kiss him again. "Dunno what I'll do."

"Make someone else cook?" Steve suggested cheekily.

[imafuturist]

"I could do that," Tony replied brightly. "No one would question it."

"I'd question it," Steve teased.

"I can let you down if you want," Tony offered with a sly little grin.

"Not just yet," Steve decided, resting his head on Tony's shoulder. "You're comfortable."

Well, not really, but Steve really, really didn't want to move.

"So are you." Mostly because Tony really enjoyed cuddling. Don't let it get out.

Never.

"Thanks," Steve said. "I've never been told that before."

Or sat in someone else's lap, for that matter, but details!

Tony grinned against Steve's neck, keeping close. "'S cool. Me neither. Rhodey usually just complains I'm crampin' his style."

"I know I'm cramping Bucky's style," Steve said, "because he manages to have style. Don't know how he does it."

"You've got style." Nerdy style.

[heroic_jawline]

Steve snorted. "I really don't."

[imafuturist]

"Well, I like it," Tony replied, trying to sound like an expert on the matter.

Steve's face lit up. "Yeah?"

"It's you. Just you's pretty awesome," Tony said, looking a little shy as he waited for Steve to react to that.

Steve turned bright red as he smiled at him. "I think you're pretty swell, too."

Tony smiled back a little shyly before kisding him again. "I can't wait to have you meet Rhodey."
