Stark Tower but Smallish [Sunday afternoon]

It had been weirdly awkward between Steve and Tony since the emotional baggage day. Tony had been working in the lab, Steve had been eating all the Moobyburgers working out, restocking the cheese fridge, and checking in with his colleagues at home.

But today, Father's Day, Steve was giving Tony another hour before going into the lab and dragging Tony out, feeding him, and making him talk. He missed them being them.

"I am an idiot," Tony sighed. "And I'm sorry that I just... went a little crazy there."

"I worried," Steve said, holding on tightly. "I didn't know what I'd done."

"I don't... I'm bad about hiding things that hurt. I know that." Didn't make it any easier to fix.

Steve kissed Tony's shoulder. "It'll be a process," he agreed. "I really am sorry."

"I fix things. I'm a fixer. A mechanic," Tony sighed. "And I can't just fix myself."

Steve kissed the other shoulder.

Tony let out a sigh, clinging to him a little more. This was terrible and he hated having to think about it.

"I'm not going anywhere," Steve murmured.

"I don't like failing," Tony grumbled. "Especially you."

"You have never failed me," Steve said firmly.

Tony pressed a kiss to his neck. It was so much easier to talk about things like this.

"I hope that's always true."

"I will love you even if it's not," Steve said quietly.

"Yeah?" Tony asked just as quietly.

"Don't try to be perfect," Steve said, meeting Tony's eyes. "Just be you. Trying to be perfect is exhausting."

Tony closed his eyes and let out a little sigh. "I'll do my best."

Steve kissed him softly. "Your best is more than enough."

"Holding you to that."

He absolutely would not.

Steve kissed him again. "You're mine," he said quietly. "I'm yours."

"I really like hearing that," Tony admitted with a pleased little sigh.

Steve slid his fingers through Tony's hair. "Oh, you're stuck with me."

"I like hearing that even more," he teased.

"Does it ruin it if I add you're a little stuck to me?" Steve asked.

Tony looked down. "Only in the way that we really need a shower."

Steve smiled. "Are your knees up to it?" he teased. "I tried to make 'em pretty wobbly."

"I have a very strong husband to keep me upright," Tony replied with a grin. "But maybe a quick rinse and then a bath is the plan."
