Stark Tower But Shrunken, Saturday morning

The party had been a success, and Steve and Tony had fallen into bed and slept hard for the next nine hours.

Tony was still asleep, but Steve had woken up hungry and had headed into the kitchen on the search for leftovers. He was now surrounded by eggs, chopped up onions, leftover roasted boar, and slight wafting of smoke because the omelet pan had gotten entirely too hot. The smoke alarm hadn't gone off, but he was pretty sure JARVIS was going to tattle on him soon. He hoped he would be able to counter Tony's sleepy grumpiness by feeding him leftover cake--and strong, boozy coffee--for breakfast while he cleaned up.

If he thought for a moment that Tony could function enough to be grumpy until he had some coffee in him after a party, he'd be wrong.

Hence the zombie version of Tony Stark shambling in and making a beeline for the mugs. Just immediately.

"Good morning, sweetheart," Steve said in the perky way of the natural morning person. You chose to marry this, Tony.

Regrets! He had them.

Tony grunted, downing the coffee a little too fast considering it was delightfully spiked for the holiday. "Oh, you're buttering me up for something."

"I was being festive," Steve said.

"And not at all suggesting a foray into Brooklyn for the holiday?" Tony replied, shuffling over to soak up some of that super soldier heat from Steve as he clung to his back like some kind of undercaffeinated koala.

"The Botanic Gardens are all lit up," Steve wheedled. "And we could stop at Jacques Torres' place for hot chocolate."

"The traffic," Tony whined like a mature adult who owned a Fortune 500 company. "You're in charge of getting there and back if we go."

"We can take the bike," Steve said. "That's easier to park."

Tony pressed a grin into Steve's shoulder. "I'll accept that."

Because more clinging.

"I thought you'd like that idea," Steve said. "Would you like cake for breakfast?"

"Very much so," Tony replied with a nod. Cake for breakfast was all you needed after a party.

"There will be pork omelets as soon as I remember how to cook eggs," Steve said. "Maybe omelets are too much. Scrambled eggs with pork and peppers and onions?"

"Scrambled eggs sounds great," Tony agreed. Then sniffed. "Is it burning?"

Again.

"The toast!"

Yeah, the toast was no more.

"Shit," Tony said, going to try and get it out before it got any worse. Which was still too late.

It was very reminiscent of the embers under the boar, honestly.

"Clearly cooking isn't my calling," Steve said.

"Well. There's always delivery?" You know. How they lived.

[heroic_jawline]

"And I keep taking classes!" Steve said earnestly. "Maybe it'll stick."

Tony kissed him on the cheek for that. "I believe in you. If one of us will manage, it'll be you."

"Maybe we should teach a class on it," Steve teased.

"...you know, that'd be a great idea." Guys, no. No.

[heroic_jawline]

"I'm better at baking!" Steve said with a confidence he had not really earned.

"And we can help people who are also beginners! We've seen a lot of that British show, after all."

Tony was going to end up buying new ovens for the school.

"We can do it just like that show!" Steve said.

[imafuturist]

"We can research fun recipes!" That they super never tried before now.
