Stark Tower but Smallish [Sunday afternoon]

It had been weirdly awkward between Steve and Tony since the emotional baggage day. Tony had been working in the lab, Steve had been eating all the Moobyburgers working out, restocking the cheese fridge, and checking in with his colleagues at home.

But today, Father's Day, Steve was giving Tony another hour before going into the lab and dragging Tony out, feeding him, and making him talk. He missed them being them.

"Please do," Steve said. "You don't even have to ask."

"Was that in the vows? Feels like it should have been in the vows," Tony murmured into Steve's shoulder, very reluctantly pulling away after another moment.

"We can add it now," Steve said, sliding his fingers through Tony's hair.

"Wouldn't turn it down," Tony sighed, eyes closed for that. He was a suckered for affectionate touches.

And probably a little touch-starved the past few weeks?

"I promise at least one hug a day for as long as we both live," Steve murmured, resting his head against Tony's.

"That's a pretty good promise," Tony replied. "Anything you want in return?"

Since you wouldn't let him buy the Dodgers.

"For you to tell me when you're hurting?" Steve asked softly. "Even if I did it. Especially if I did it."

Tony opened his mouth at that and closed it again because wow, that was a sort of big ask for him. He did not share hurts easily. "And if it's my own fault?"

"Then too," Steve said, sliding his fingers through Tony's. "Please."

"Can I say I'll try?" Tony asked. Because, well, he knew himself.

"Of course you can," Steve said, leaning in for a soft, easy kiss.

Tony kissed him back for that, letting out a relieved little sigh. "I love you."

"I love you, too," Steve said, kissing him again. This felt like a moment for physical reinforcement. Chinese food could always get reheated.

It really, really was a moment for that. Tony relaxed against him, holding on and ignoring the rest of their massive order for now.

Steve eventually pressed Tony into their ginormous couch, moving his mouth slowly down to plant soft kisses along Tony's neck.

"You don't have to..." Because clearly Steve did things he didn't want to.

"What if I really, really want to?" Steve asked.

[imafuturist]

"Well, in that case," Tony said, pulling him into another kiss.

Steve chuckled, low and delighted, then scooped Tony up like he didn't weigh anything. "This needs a bed."

Tony needed to feel cherished today, in Steve's opinion.

"Yaaaay." Tony really didn't mean for that one to come out, but there they were.

Steve laughed again. "It'll be positive reinforcement for leaving the lab and spending time with your husband," he teased.

"Anything for my husband," Tony agreed with a genuine smile.

[heroic_jawline]

"I'm going to need you to take off these clothes, please," Steve said politely as he dropped Tony onto their bed.

Tony laughed and wriggled out of his pajamas as fast as he could manage. It was too much of a relief to be like this again and not have things just working overtime in his head.

Steve smiled, took off his own clothing, and then leaned in and buried his face in the crook of Tony's neck. "You still smell like the shower."

Steve had no idea what the body wash cost.
