Tony & Steve's apartment in the Stark Tiny Tower, Wednesday mid-morning

Steve and Tony had returned from Steve's dimension at an ungodly time that morning and had almost immediately collapsed into bed. (Patriot had been ecstatic to see them home and so Steve'd had to take him for a long walk to get those wiggles out. At three in the morning. Patriot owed him. So did Tony.) Steve had, for once, forgone his pre-dawn run and was still in bed as the clock's numbers read 10:00.

He finally opened his eyes with a tiny groan. His stomach let out a much less tiny rumble in reply. Time to get up.

Steve blushed more, pleased. "I am?"

"I know that I can be... a lot. Even in different realities," Tony said slowly. "So, yeah. Yeah, I think you are."

Steve leaned in and kissed him. "I'm stubborn enough not to give up."

"Stubborn? You?" Tony murmured, enjoying the kiss for a moment.

"I've heard that describe me one or twice," Steve said.

"But you're so laid back," Tony said oh so seriously. "Just like me. It's why we mesh so well."

"Our devil-may-care, let the world do what it wants attitude," Steve agreed, laughing.

Okay, now Tony cracked up. "Sounds like us!"

"Ask anyone," Steve said, leaning into Tony's shoulder.

"Just not our teams."

They'd have Some Words.

"They would be unnecessarily harsh," Steve said with a nod.

Tony nodded along with him before leaning in for a kiss. "We're still not moving out of this bed for at least a day."

"Suggestions like this are why I married you," Steve said, kissing him back.

"Damn right." It was a good enough reason for Tony!

Steve gave him another, slower kiss. "I love you."

"I love you too," Tony murmured. "Here for you through thick and thin."

"I'm really grateful," Steve murmured back. "Thank you for explain the Skrulls to me."

"Luckily I've dealt with them," Tony agreed. Thanos would be a new one, though. He dealt with a different purple guy from space.

"Very lucky for me," Steve said with a smile. "I don't think Fury was going to be all that informative."

"Oh, no. He'd take it to the grave," Tony said with a little sigh. And then it would turn out so, so much worse!

"Information sharing is a good thing," Steve said, pursing his lips.

"Nick."

Tony felt that explained a lot.

Steve huffed out a breath. "I spent time in SHIELD. I understand the need for security. He takes it to another level."

"How many times was it him who talked to us and how many times was it that other guy?" Tony asked, trying to figure that one out.

Steve shuddered. "I don't know. Is there a way to tell, aside from the detector?"
