Tony's Lab, Avengers Mini Tower of Dubious Sanity, Tuesday night

Tony had disappeared into the lab muttering about Tesla's Cybertruck after their class and Steve hadn't seen him since. Knowing how Tony got when he was in the middle of spite creating a new project, Steve had gone to see Wanda, then had headed to Tony's version of New York (with blessedly better weather) to retrieve dinner from the Szechuan hole in the wall near the Tower that Tony loved.

Maybe the smell of mapo tofu, dan dan noodles, and scallion pancakes would pull him from his engineering reverie. "Tony?" he called, coming into the space.

That was why Steve asked because otherwise he'd have no idea. "On it," Steve said. "Look in the bags and see if they remembered napkins?"

And steal an eggroll because Steve knew Tony.

Oh, the eggroll was already in Tony's mouth. "Mmm?"

"Napkins," Steve repeated, smiling.

Tony fished around for them, pulling the napkins out to put on the now slightly clean corner of his work bench. "I love these eggrolls."

Yes, which is why Steve got them.

Steve's smiled widened. "I've noticed that about you."

You made happy noises when you ate them, Tony.

NORMAL NOISES.

"I used to order from this place all the time when I still lived in New York," he said with one of those happy noises.

"They say hello and that they miss you," Steve said, opening the bag and taking out cartons.

"I wish they opened a location here." But then it wouldn't have that dingy New York vibe.

[heroic_jawline]

"But then it wouldn't be as special when we get it," Steve said, sticking his chopsticks right into the dan dan noodle box.

"Yeah, yeah," Tony said before making another delighted noise about the scallion pancakes he found in the bag.

"I had to bring out the big guns to regain your attention," Steve teased.

"You always have my attention!"

Well.

"Mostly."

[heroic_jawline]

Steve laughed and kissed him between the eyes. "I know where I rate, and it's slightly lower than these eggrolls."

"They're just really good," Tony said like it could help him here.

[heroic_jawline]

Steve laughed. "I know. I have to work harder than that to get you to make happy noises for me."

"But it's worth it, right?" Tony said with a grin.

[heroic_jawline]

"Completely worth it," Steve said, kissing that smile.

"If nothing else, you're helping better the world." By mocking Tesla.

[heroic_jawline]

"Through Chinese delivery," Steve replied, grinning.

[imafuturist]

"Precisely!" They got each other.

[heroic_jawline]

They really did. Steve grinned at him. "So get some food and tell me more about these trucks."

"Yes," Tony said, already pulling over a design to explain the details that no one really needed to hear.

Steve loved when Tony got into the weeds, though. His husband was so smart.

He ate his way through probably more than his share of the mapo tofu, but made sure the boxes were close enough to Tony that he was eating while he explained.

He ate about half as much as he should while explaining it all, but that was the nature of the beast. "I've already sent over some of the plans to the company's R&D to see about implementing it."

"I'm glad to see you so excited about a project," Steve said earnestly.
