Stark Tower but Small, Monday morning

Steve stared at his reflection in the mirror, running his hand over his now beardless jaw.

"Feels weird," he muttered, walking out of the bathroom and reaching for the jacket of his dress uniform. His eyes went across all of the ribbons, making certain none of them were out of place or crooked, then pulled it on and gave his reflection one final look.

"Tony?" he called out. "I'm heading to Arlington."

Now that he wasn't a wanted felon he was back on the speakers circuit for Memorial Day. He'd resent it, but he had too many friends to visit in that cemetery. Making nice with Ross for a half hour was nothing compared to their sacrifices.

Steve chuckled. "That helps, too," he said softly.

"Want to talk or want to just sit with me?" Tony asked, threading their fingers together to hold his hand.

"I just want to sit," Steve admitted. "I should change, too. The medals are probably poking you."

"Get changed into something comfortable," Tony ordered, all ready to take control here. "Grab your drawing pad and come sit."

"Yes sir," Steve murmured, leaning in for a soft kiss. "I'll take a shower, too."

"Nice, quiet evening in," Tony replied.

"Exactly," Steve said, getting up. "I need it."

"Take your time in the shower, okay?" Tony said, letting go of Steve's hand reluctantly.

"I want company more than I want to warm back up," Steve admitted. "I'll try to beat the pizza out."

"Well, we'll see if you make it," Tony replied with a soft smile.

Steve stole one more kiss before heading out of the room and down the hallway to their bedroom.

Tony yawned and stretched, interrupting Patty and causing him to jump down and over onto the other end of the massive couch. In a pile of throw pillows.

He got his diva attitude from Tony.

Steve finally turned back up again, smelling like Irish Spring and with damp hair. He'd put on his sleeveless undershirt and a pair of Iron Man themed sweatpants. "Better," he said with a sigh. "Pizza?"

"Pizza," Tony agreed, having been a very good husband who only ate one slice while he waited for Steve.

"You're the best," Steve said, scooping up a piece, folding it in half, and taking a giant bite.

"Feeling better?" Tony asked, grabbing another slice for himself. Because it was going to disappear fast.

Steve nodded. "Today's always tough."

"At least you don't have to hide this year," Tony ventured.

"That is a step in the right direction," Steve agreed. "Some of the older fellas said they'd missed me."

"It is," Tony agreed, leaning into Steve's side as the very dry documentary continued to talk about the migratory habits of elk.

Horrifically boring documentaries were about where Steve's brain could land right now. "Learning a lot?" he asked.

"Oh, not at all. But it let's my brain shut off to answer work emails."

Pepper? Thrilled.

"I'm glad you're answering Pepper," Steve said earnestly.

"You are supposed to be on my side," Tony grumbled even as he dutifully nixed a design from R&D as morally questionable.

"She writes to me when you don't reply," Steve said.
