Boston Common, Wednesday afternoon

Steve had deliberately not looked at the prices when he'd ordered the picnic lunch from the hotel because good God in heaven, he was still Depression era enough to be appalled by what they were charging.

The basket was heavy with food and a bottle of champagne, the weather was perfect for sitting outside and people watching--though they kept watching him back--and Steve was really enjoying a chance to spend some time with Tony without watching kids.

A bunch of them were on a whale watching tour--they couldn't get into too much trouble there, right?

"I feel like I'm in college again," Tony said, settling in to people watch. "Of course then, I didn't have a yacht in the harbor to sleep in."

"Did Happy always have that hat he was wearing or did he buy it specifically to bring the boat up here?" Steve asked, popping the champagne open.

"I'm not going to question it," Tony decided. "He makes his own fun with me away, I think."

"It was a fun hat," Steve said diplomatically. "Very...eye catching."

"At least it wasn't Captain Anerica themed?" Tony offered.

Steve laughed. "He loves you more. He's made that very clear."

"Oh, please. He turns into a teenage girl around you. It's adorable." But, yes. Happy was loyal to a fault.

Steve pulled his ballcap down lower on his face, speaking of teenaged girls who were pointing and giggling.

"He brought your yacht up," Steve said. "Which...you own a yacht."

"I thought we weren't in a Boston where we're famous," Tony said, frowning a little. "Unless it's just your rugged good looks."

"They think I look like some actor," Steve said, shrugging.

"Maybe?" Steve said, wincing slightly.

Tony snorted and shook his head. "At least it's someone else for a change."

"I can have you sign things for me," Steve teased, handing him a glass of champagne.

"Oh, am I going to be your personal assistant in this?" Tony asked with a laugh.

"Yes," Steve said, snickering. "We're going to start a rumor about his passionate love affair with his PA."

"Ooo, I like it. Tabloid fodder," Tony agreed eagerly, lifting his champagne flute in a toast.

Steve grinned and kissed him.

Tony hummed into that kiss, careful not to spill. "Now, what have you prepared for us, Captain?"

Like Steve actually made the basket or something.

"Lobster rolls, though I'm sure they're not as good as the ones he had the last time," Steve said, "steak sandwiches, sweet corn with cheese stuff, crab salad, and all the desserts."

"Oh, that all sounds amazing, though," Tony said, kissing him on the cheek as he went to fish something out. "We can go to that lobster roll place before we leave."

"It's a date," Steve said, smiling. "Have you had fun so far this week? Dodging a lot of MIT calls?"

Tony made such a face at that. "We were just there!"

"You are their very favorite alumni," Steve teased, rummaging until he found a steak sandwich.

"I will tell them you secretly wanted to be in the Navy so they surprise you with a cake next time," Tony warned, digging into the lobster roll.
