Apartment Above Stark Industries, Sunday afternoon

Patriot had learned very early into the weekend that Wanda the snake was not a playmate and also that she would not be sharing the sunny spot with him.

So Patriot had moved into Steve's lap and had basically stayed there all weekend, pausing only to give Steve Extremely Sad Eyes and whimpers when he got up to do anything else.

"You really need to work on sharing, pal," Steve told him for the thirtieth time that day as he sat back on the sofa and got a lapful of jealous dog.

"Is Wanda up here?" Tony asked, coming out of the lab in a bit of a panic.

"I thought so," Steve said, standing up and looking around, much to Patriot's dismay. "She was by the window."

"Oh! Good." Had she gotten lost in his computers more than once this weekend. Maybe. It was warm and full of fun places to slither into, in her defense.

Of course he couldn't tell Steve that he lost his teammate, though.

"Why?" Steve asked slowly.

"...no reason?" Tony said hopefully.

"Tony."

Now you were getting Steve's disappointed face.

"She might have gotten into some of my equipment before?" It wasn't bad! He found her pretty quickly!

Steve snorted. "Tony."

"She's very quiet!" Yes, that was his defense here.

[heroic_jawline]

"She's a snake!" Steve pointed out.

[imafuturist]

"And the computers get warm, so..." He made a little snake hand motion to explain what happened there.

"She took a nap?" Steve guessed, grinning.

"Yes." And caused Tony to panic looking for her.

"For how long?" Steve asked dryly.

[imafuturist]

"Just for an hour!" Tony said like that helped. "It took time to locate which one and how to safely disassemble it?"

[heroic_jawline]

Steve smiled. "Thank you for not getting my teammate slightly toasty."

[imafuturist]

"Maybe next time we should snake proof the apartment?" Tony suggested. But the snake might have magic powers?

"Can you snake proof an apartment? She's tricky."

[imafuturist]

"Maybe? I've never really had to consider it before now." Which seemed like a glaring issue in his planning.

"Add it to the contingency plans," Steve said with a little smile.

[imafuturist]

"Aye, aye, Captain," Tony said with a little salute as he peered over at where Wanda was curled up in a sunbeam.

[heroic_jawline]

Steve laughed. "For the hour or so she moves around."

[imafuturist]

"At least she's not bitey or anything."

[heroic_jawline]

"She's pretty mellow, as snakes go," Steve agreed.

Steve had zero other snakes to compare this to.

"Maybe it's hibernation time?" Snakes hibernated, right?
