Apartment Above Stark Industries

Steve was back from his normal run and enjoying the air conditioning of their apartment (which he'd turned up a little bit to make himself feel less guilty about being engaged to an engineering genius while everyone else was melting in the heat) and had showered and changed and was now sprawled out on the sofa with his Stark tablet, going through more of the exposed SHIELD files that Natasha had flagged for him in an email titled "Tugging on that Thread."

It was probably a bad idea to be reading the information, but Steve couldn't help himself. He'd been chasing Bucky for years and had gotten exactly nowhere. Maybe what SHIELD, well, Hydra, had on his past would give him some more leads to follow.

Steve laughed, desperate for a break in the tension. "Can I glare if I see him, at least?"

"I'd act like I hate it, but I'd give you an amazing blowjobs for being protective," Tony admitted.

"God, I love when you give me a blowjob."

Steve's eyes bugged out. That was a little too forthright for the repressed 1930s boy that he still was when it came to talking about sex.

Did it help that Tony beamed at the praise? Because he totally did.

"I'll be sure to give you them more often. I've fantasized about giving you one in every car I own."

Steve blushed hard. "That's a lot of cars."

"My brain does that," Tony said a little sheepishly. Because Steve knew about the compulsive planning, but probably didn't realize it applied elsewhere.

Steve kissed him again. "I love your brain."

"A lot of people think it's weird," Tony murmured into that kiss.

"Think we've already covered the terrible people who hang around you and should not be listened to," Steve said, nipping Tony's lower lip. "Listen to me. To Jan. To Rhodey. To Pepper."

"You do the same, okay?" Tony said, glancing up to meet Steve's eyes.

Steve smiled softly. "I'm not sure Pepper's gonna give me advice."

"You've got Natasha and Sam to make up for it."

"I'm not sure I'd ever take Natasha's advice," Steve admitted softly. "She holds stuff back, and I get it, I do, but it's tough."

"She sent you this," Tony said, touching the discarded tablet.

Steve nodded. "She warned me about pulling on this thread," he said, "but I can't not look for him, even if it's completely obvious by now that Bucky's avoiding me."

"So there's something in there she's worried about you knowing?" Tony asked, frowning as he thought it over.

"Well, it's not a picnic reading about your best friend, the murderer so efficient they tell ghost stories about him in the intelligence community," Steve said, "but I'm guessing there's something more."
