Stark Tower but Smallish [Sunday afternoon]

It had been weirdly awkward between Steve and Tony since the emotional baggage day. Tony had been working in the lab, Steve had been eating all the Moobyburgers working out, restocking the cheese fridge, and checking in with his colleagues at home.

But today, Father's Day, Steve was giving Tony another hour before going into the lab and dragging Tony out, feeding him, and making him talk. He missed them being them.

Steve smiled, took off his own clothing, and then leaned in and buried his face in the crook of Tony's neck. "You still smell like the shower."

Steve had no idea what the body wash cost.

Never ask. Otherwise they'd end up with something cheap and not as nice smelling.

"I really needed it," Tony said, soft and pleased.

"You did," Steve said. "You're much more relaxed."

"I don't have something running through my brain," Tony admitted, trailing his fingers down Steve's back.

"I'm planning on keeping that true," Steve admitted, kissing a slow trail from Tony's neck down his shoulder blade.

Tony's fingers twitched slightly as he let it sink in that Steve was still here, still with him, still engaged in this. "I'm happy to oblige," he said, going for playful and getting just much too sincere.

It was easier when Steve wasn't looking right at him.

Steve smiled against Tony's skin. "Stay still for me?" he murmured.

"Of course," Tony said like he wasn't normally an absolute brat in bed.

"Thank you," Steve said, continuing his slow path of kisses, stopping at the pad of each of Tony's fingers.

"You're being very sweet," Tony murmured, watching him with a smile.

"You need some sweet," Steve murmured, smiling back up at him.

"I love you," Tony said again, just unable to keep it inside and make a snarky comment on the face of that.

"I love you, too," Steve said, kissing the pads on Tony's other fingers, and then his palm.

Tony had to look away because it was just too much to be treated like this. "I should be doing something for you."

"You are," Steve said. "You're letting me do this for you."

"And that's... good for you?" Nevermind that it'd be good for Tony if they swapped places.

"It's all I want," Steve murmured.

Tony did not whimper. It just maybe sounded like it.

A little.

Steve hummed, hiding a smile into Tony's skin and started kissing a path along his chest, pausing where the arc reactor used to be.

It was gone for several years now, but that still caused Tony's breath to catch at the memory of it. "Steve..."

Steve glanced up. "You okay?" he asked softly.

"Yeah, just... yeah." Surprised at the phantom feel of it for a moment there.

"I love you," Steve murmured, kissing that spot again.

"Love you too," Tony said, sounding a little breathless.

"Just reinforcing it a little," Steve said softly, continuing on his quest to kiss every inch of available skin.
